French Horn
Horn soloist Eric Ruske was named Associate Principal Horn of the Cleveland Orchestra at the age of 20. He won the 1986 Young Concert Artists International Auditions at age 22, and in 1988, the highest prize in the Concours International d'Interprétation Musicale in Reims, France. Mr. Ruske gave the 1990 World Premiere of Gunther Schuller's Concerto for Horn and Orchestra with the San Antonio Symphony and has performed as soloist with such orchestras as the Cleveland, the Baltimore Symphony, the Shanghai Broadcasting Symphony, the Seoul Philharmonic, the Boston Pops Orchestra, and the Israel Chamber Orchestra. He has presented recitals at the Louvre in Paris, the 92nd Street Y, the Kennedy, and Duke's Theatre in London. Mr. Ruske is in great demand as a teacher, having taught at the Royal Academy in London, the Central Conservatory in Beijing, the Royal Scottish Academy in Glasgow, the Cleveland Institute, and the New England Conservatory. Currently he is on the faculty of Boston University and heads the Horn Seminar at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute.
